Franciska Gál is a country housemaid during the 1940s. She and the neighbouring jeweller Lajos are in love; on weekends, she tears around with Lajos on his motorbike, just like in the movies. During the war, the owners and Lajos are taken away into a forced labour battalion because they are Jews. In 1945, Franciska begins to make her way in life. She pursues a dual existence in the capital: during the week she is a guard in a labour camp, but she gives her Sundays to the escaped, bicycle-hiring man who has a side business in gold rings. Then one day in 1956, instead of Lajos she finds a cassette tape bearing the message that he is going to visit his daughter in Canada.

The dramatic short with sweeping narrative is set in a harbour-side brothel. Its chief protagonist is the young blonde scullery maid Jenny, who puts up with recurring humiliations and insults. She dreams of the arrival of a multi-masted pirate ship when, aided by the sailors, she is able to take bloody revenge on the citizens of the town for all she has endured. The expressive painting film packed with sensual scenes was inspired by poet György Faludy’s Villon ballad.
